Computer Carrying Cases

What happens if a laptop case is a bit too small?

By · Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

I thought my laptop was a 15″, but I didn’t realize the measurement is supposed to be taken diagonally, which means mine is actually a 16″. I ended up buying a 15.4″ laptop case. I can get it in and out pretty easily (just a bit of difficulty – nothing serious). But I’m just wondering if anything can happen to my laptop since it’s a bit too small? To me, buying one too small is better than buying one too big? (it could get damaged more easily if it’s too big?)

just throw your laptop in the wash and it will shrink a good 2 inches

a half inch isnt anything to worry about. since its a tight fit at least it wont slide around in ur case.

umm i would just return the case and buy a new one

If it fits in an out easily for you then its good. It’s better when its tightly in there so it won’t move around and shake up the internal parts so you good.

The only thing i can think of would be the filtration. if the fan is being suffocated and there isn’t a solid airflow, then it could overheat, of course this wouldn’t happen if it was off.

if the laptop is too small, it might move around too much and damage it in the case itself.

my laptop case is HUGE, really realy roomy, but there’s dividers for my laptop, so it’s really snug in it’s place. I suggest you return the old case and get a new one a bit bigger. mine only cost about 20 bucks.

Nothing will happen to the laptop. Just make sure it’s turned off when it’s in the case

Too big is better. You’re always going to find more stuff you want to put in the case with the laptop.
