Computer Carrying Cases

What size do I look for when buying a laptop case?

By · Sunday, June 20th, 2010

My specs say the screen is 15.6″

When I measure the closed laptop on the top, it is exactly 15″

When I buy the bag/case will it fit into a 15″ bag or should I go up to 17″?

Yeah it will perfectly fit in a 15″ case.

Screen size is measured diagonally from corner to corner. A bad designed for a 15″ laptop should work fine.

I’d look at the manufacturer of the case to be sure, but most laptops are measured in terms of the screen–so if the screen is measured as 15.6, its 15.6. I wouldn’t worry about your own manual measurements.

As it is, most of these cases have adjustable straps (with velcro), so it probably wouldn’t matter, but I’d look up the manufacturer’s site just to be sure–or at least, verify with the retailer that you can get a full money-back guarantee.

15inch case will fit it perfectly.

When shopping for a laptop bag, you want one that the laptop will fit in, but you also want one in which everything else you use will fit. Make sure that you have enough room for you power pack, mouse, and anything else you want to tote along.

You should buy a 17 inches laptop case because if your laptop is 15 inch wide screen so case must be bigger than that.

The screen measurements are taken at the diagonal.

If you want a perfectly fitting bag, i suggest going with a SleeveCase and bag from Waterfield Designs. They are the only folks I know who make the sleeves custom for each laptop.
